Hair Removal Treatment–What to expect?

1. The duration of each session varies from person to person, but on average they last about 20-30 minutes.
2. Because hair grows in stages, multiple treatments are required. The number and timing of these treatments will be determined based on specific needs of individuals in discussion with the therapist.
3. A topical anesthetic can be used before Laser hair removal treatments treatment if desired.
4. After the treatment, a cool compress or gel pack may be applied. Any redness or swelling after treatment should resolve in a couple of hours.
5. One can resume normal activities after session, but should follow post treatment advice such as avoiding sun or abrasive skin cleansers on treated skin for a few days.

For about six weeks prior to treatment, one should avoid plucking, electrolysis or waxing. On the day of treatment, the skin should be clean-shaven and thoroughly cleansed of any makeup, creams, oils, topical anesthetics or self-tanning products. Apply sunblock (SPF 30 or above) before the treatment. Do not expose the treatment area to sunlight prior to or immediately after treatment.

Post Treatment Precautions

After the treatment, the skin will be much more prone to sun damage, so be sure to use sunblock with SPF 30 or greater. In the first few days after treatment, don’t scrub or rinse the treated areas with abrasive skin cleansers. Follow all post treatment precautions provided.

Side effects of Laser Hair Removal Treatment

While side effects – such as redness, swelling, hyper pigmentation, hypo pigmentation, blistering, or purpura (a bruise-like condition) in the treated area – can occur, it is rare for them to be permanent, and will usually go away in a few days.
